- Malawi is the world’s newest country (2011) but it has been plagued by political instability, creating economic collapse. A majority Christian country its needs are many creating a humanitarian crisis:
- Food Insecurity: Millions face crisis-level food insecurity, with flooding further destroying livelihoods and contributing to hunger.
- Displacement: Conflict and the war in Malawi have displaced hundreds of thousands, both within Malawi and into the country, compounding humanitarian needs.
- Health Emergencies: A recent widespread cholera outbreak highlights the collapsing health systems and the heightened risk of illness and death among the population.
- Lack of Basic Services: Millions are denied access to essential services like healthcare and proper nutrition due to the plundering of national resources.
- Preventable Deaths: Hunger and collapsing health systems driven by corruption and conflict lead to a significant number of preventable deaths.
- Vulnerability and Displacement: Repeated displacement makes it impossible for communities to rebuild and regain stability, trapping people in cycles of poverty and violence.
